The Maharajah's Palace: Jodphur, India

Thursday 1/11 6:00pm – Before we spent our second night at Ajit Bahwan, we had dinner “across the street” at the Palace of Umit Bahwan. This is where the Maharajah (the King of Jodhpur) lives. While India is now a democracy, the Kings are still very wealthy, prominent figures. The maharajah still lives on part of the grounds, and the other part of the palace operates as a 5-star hotel. Though we were dressed casually and were initially turned away from the restaurant because they were “booked full” (despite the many obviously open tables), Veer worked his magic, insisting that they serve us. He casually, yet firmly, mentioned that we were coming back with a group of 25, and wouldn’t if they don’t take care of us. Needless to say, they quickly prepared a table for us (go Veer!). Joseph also joined us and showed us around the town. He is the pastor of the church in Jodhpur and also has a school there.

Mr. Krake,

I must say that because history is one of my favorite subjects I found this information the most interesting. I already knew some about India but definantly not a lot, and the information you shared with us in class about the Maharajah and the meaning behind the name was especially interesting. I am sure your trip was both beautiful and fascinating, and I wish I could go not only for the orphans but also the great learning oppurtunity it would afford me.

Austin DePue,
Mr. Krake that is awesome. It would have been hilarious to see Veer do that. You are right, Go Veer. I would have loved to see the waitors face after that and while he was waiting you. That makes wish I was there to see.
I also wish I could have seen that building. I am so facinated with stuff like that. One day i want to travel the world and see the ruins and biulding like that all over the world.

Also know as Kyle Kersey...

I would be warry about eating there again as the management is probobly mad about Veer threatening them and they're probobly going to poison your meal there in the name of Vishnu. Hey...If I meet you at the pearly gates don't go saying I didn't told you so...

wow I love going to places like this and I'm so excited to go in march. The places fasinate me with the amount of detail and work that went into it and the years it must have taken to make. When I was in Cologne over in Europe we went to visit the gothic cathedral there which blew my mind and left me in aw. I'm hoping this will be the same when we arive.

Hey Mr. Krake, my internet kept blocking this site so i am on now...

Wow! That is awesome. I wish I could have been there. They could have taken me hostage and we could have had an exchange with snipers and stuff all over. Of course, The US doesnt do that but still it would have been cool. Yeah... Anyways... peace out.
